In French folklore, the word Ganache was originally coined as an insult by an angry chef in 1920s Paris. The resulting happy accident was the mixture of rich chocolate and hot cream that appears so prominently in today’s patisseries. As a shade of paint, it was revealed as one of several colors on an exquisitely painted ceiling at Blickling Hall in Norfolk, which was boarded up in the early 20th century and rediscovered after a flood nearly a hundred years later. With its enviable depth, Ganache will probably be the darkest shade in your room’s layout, but consider pairing it with the even darker Chocolate color for a design statement.
