Little Greene Lauderdale Wallpaper - Stone

This item, a variation on a striped theme, dates from around 1820, although the original fragment was discovered at a 16th-century property, Lauderdale House on Highgate Hill, overlooking Hampstead Heath. The design is the result of stencilling rather than block printing: plain green paper would have been laid on a hessian canvas stretched across the wall and then stencilled in place.
